VT Club XCTF

News

As you all likely know by now, for the first time in club history, we have claimed the XC nationals title! In a nail-biting race, your men’s championship team edged out Cal Poly by a single point to win the race and bring home our first XC Nats trophy (and a giant Hershey’s bar)! The women’s championship team finished 5th after a very competitive race and cemented the fact that we are undoubtedly the most well-rounded team in the nation. In the last 3 years of national competition (track and XC, men and women), we’ve come in 1st place 3 times, 2nd place 2 times, 3rd place 5 times and 5th place 2 times. And 0 times below 5th place in that time span. No one else does it like we do, and the culture of consistency, well-roundedness, and depth we have is something to appreciate. As we wrap up the season, take pride in what we’ve accomplished together and the legacy we’re building for the future. This title belongs to every one of you, and it’s a reflection of the hard work and heart you bring to this team. Now back to the regularly scheduled programming...

🧘 Yoga Social (11/16)

We’re doing a yoga social with In Balance Yoga on November 16 at 4:30pm! This is a pay as you can event (usually $5 to $10), with 100% of proceeds going to the club. It will last around 1 hour. There’s a women’s basketball game at 2pm, so you can head over right after. This is an open event so invite your friends! Make sure to bring water and a yoga mat if you have one. Lastly, if you have not been to In Balance Yoga before, complete the new student form here before arriving.

👔 Last Week to Pick Up Your Semester Shirt!

If you have paid your dues and completed the IMLeagues forms, you can now pick up your semester shirt from Molly at practice.

🦃 Friendsgiving (11/21)

We'll be having our annual Friendsgiving celebration on the evening of Thursday, November 21 6 to 9:30pm at 212 Courtney Circle. This is a potluck event so sign up here to RSVP. If you don't know, Friendsgiving is just like Thanksgiving, except with your friends, so much fun will be had. For transportation you can take NMG from the Maroon Bay to stop #1428, or park at the local Food Lion or Kibbles on Main and walk about a quarter mile. If you are able, please sign up and bring any food of your choice! Regardless of if you can bring anything, there will be a section for you to RSVP just so we can get a headcount.

❄️ Winter Formal (12/7) & Planning Committee

That's right, mark your calendars! We will have our Winter Formal on Saturday, December 7, at the Blacksburg Community Center from 5 to 8pm. There is no action to be taken yet on your part besides making sure you clear all your plans so you can attend. There is no admission fee, there will just be a signup released in a couple weeks so we can order the appropriate amount of food. There is no dress code, but most people will be dressing up as they would for a prom/homecoming. Plus-ones are welcome! Also have a good karaoke/Just Dance song in mind. If you’d like to be involved in the planning/set-up of the Winter Formal, please reach out to Kevin.
