The Most Wonderful Time of the Year! (NIRCA Nationals)

NIRCA Track & Field (and half marathon) Nationals are almost here! Ellie & Roman will send an email later this week with detailed information. We are bringing a record number of people to the two-day meet! Get excited to race, cheer, and most importantly, have a lot of fun this weekend.
We will be leaving in two groups at 4:30pm and 5:00pm on Friday, April 5. If you need an excused letter for Friday, let Volkan know by the end of the day Tuesday.
🐻🐾 Bear Tracks Sign Up
Bear Tracks starts this Wednesday at 8:40am-9:15am. Don't miss out on this really cool opportunity to connect with the community and get some volunteer hours. You'll get to run around with and race elementary schoolers on their tiny track. If you need volunteer hours, this is a great way to get them, and we can sign off on any document you need showing you did your hours. If you have any free time in the morning on Wednesdays or Thursdays, please sign up on the form here. This week's theme is color run, so wear your favorite color while you volunteer!
💙💛Blacksburg High School Meet Volunteering - 4/13
There is another great volunteer opportunity onSaturday, April 13 at Blacksburg High School. They are hosting a home meet that weekend and need volunteers. BHS helps us every year with our two home meets, and this is our opportunity to give back. This is the same day as the 3.2 for 32 run on campus so if you are running in the morning, you can come right after and still volunteer! The signup can be found here - please consider volunteering if you can.
🍦🥗 Practice Moved & DWednesday - 4/3
Are you hungry? I know I am. Come out to DWednesday™ after practice on April 3 to get some grub with the team.We will be moving practice to 5pm on Wednesday to make sure we have enough time to eat before D2 closes. See you there!
🚫 No Practice Friday - 4/5
We are going to Nationals. Have you heard? There will be no practice on Friday. Don't be late to your vans. And if you're not coming with us this weekend, I hope you have a great weekend and make sure to cheer on your teammates on social media. We will have a livestream of the meet and keep our Instagram story updated with podium finishes and other shenanigans.
🕵️ Scavenger Hunt - 4/14
Puzzle Master Wyatt is curating the scavenger hunt of all time for us to participate in on Sunday, April 14. Bring out your trench coats and magnifying glasses... put on your detective hats... polish your pipes... you get the idea. More details to come next week but it'll be a lot of fun so I hope to see you there!
🗓️ April Club XCTF Calendar
"Wow, that's a lot of events to keep track of," I hear you saying. Well do not fret, for we have just the solution. Here is the club events calendar for the month of April. This is the last calendar for the year - I guess time flies when you're having fun.
🥄 Assassin Update
We're in the final stretch now... only seven people remain in the race for Assassin Champion. About half of the people who were still in yesterday have perished to the kill deadline - better luck next time. Who will win? Who will take home the coveted paper plate award? Here's the leaderboard as it stands but remember it's not about who has the most kills, but about who's remaining at the end. Good luck!

Nathan Montgomery: 4

🚐 Van Draft - 4/2
The long-awaited Van Draft™ is finally here. This is an opportunity for the van drivers to choose their vans. With 121 athletes traveling and 21 van drivers, we will have 5 rounds of picks and follow a snake draft format. The draft will take place inWallace 340 at 8:00pm on Tuesday, April 2. By random number generator, Tyler Houston & Christian Crawley's van has been chosen to make the first overall pick. The remaining 10 driver pairs have also been assigned a slot from 2-11. The pairs will make two picks per round, and we will alternate order of picking per the rules of the snake draft.
Following the conclusion of the initial drafts, there will be time given to each van to consult among themselves and offer trades to other vans. After a maximum of 30 minutes of deliberation, we will deem all vans final and share the results on GroupMe. Do not fear if you are not a van driver, because as soon as you are drafted to a van, you are able to participate in discussion within your new van about future picks as well as potential trades.
This is the first time we're trying this as a team, so if you have any questions don't hesitate to email Wyatt (wyatt@vt.edu). Hope to see you all there and good luck!
