Good afternoon you wonderful Virginia Tech Club Cross Country/Track & Field athletes and welcome back to your favorite corner of the internet! It is with great pleasure that I announce the return of the weekly articles. I hope you've all had a fantastic first week of practice and Labor Day weekend!

First thing first, I hope you've all read Wyatt's email from Monday thoroughly as to not miss anything since it contains essential information about membership, upcoming races, and much more. If you haven't gotten the email, make sure to fill out the membership survey so we can add your email to our list.

Joining the Club

There are three things every member must do by September 8th, you can find detailed instructions on our join page but the gist is:

1. Complete the membership survey.

2. Complete your IMLeagues forms.

3. Pay your dues at McComas Hall at the latest by 4:30 PM.

Our First Race at UVA on 9/16!

It is already time to start signing up for our first meet of the season! We're headed to UVA to outrace our biggest rivals, and you're not gonna want to miss it! In order to sign up, please fill out this Google form. Additionally, if you are new to racing for the club, you must fill out the NIRCA registration form which I've included in the survey! And remember, you must pay your racing dues in order to go race.

As a reminder, you must make a NIRCA account only if you have not raced with us before. That link can be found here. If you have raced with us, please fill out the 2023-2024 NIRCA waiver. You can access that at clubrunning.org and viewing your profile.

Hokie Half Marathon Volunteering on 9/17

As Wyatt mentioned in his email, it's already that time of the year. Unfortunately, Hokie Half is scheduled two weeks earlier than normal which is the day after UVA. This is a really fun opportunity where you get to serve the running community of Blacksburg! If you are able to volunteer, please do so.

There are excess slots so everyone can sign up, but we may need all the slots depending on the cadets. In this case, I will unfortunately have to make this volunteer opportunity required if you want to race NIRCA Regionals and Nationals this season. That is not the case for now, but please be on the lookout. If you have any questions, please let us know. The deadline to sign up is 9/10, and we will email everyone with specific instructions soon after.

Chipotle Percentage Night on 9/6

Next, our first team dinner is coming up this Wednesday from 5:00 - 9:00 pm at the North Main Chipotle (314 N Main St). We will head there after practice but if you can't make it, you can go anytime 5:00 - 9:00 pm. This is a great way to support the team and meet a bunch of your fellow teammates. Be sure to mention you're with the Club XCTF team or show them this flyer so we get a percentage of the proceeds.

Where Can I See Photos Photos from Practice and Meets?

This is sort of fluid but for now, the photos from this semester can be found at this Google Photos album. In the past, we've had issues with there being too many photos in one album so by the end of the semester it would take a long time to scroll all the way down to the most recent photos.

An idea I had is we could have separate albums for practice, socials, and each of the meets and have a page on the website that lists each album so you can go directly where you want and don't have to scroll through 7,000 photos to see the ones you want.

Soccer Social on 9/4

What's really funny is that these are supposed to be out on Mondays so I could tell you to come to the social. Instead, it's Wednesday and the social has already happened but the good news is I have some photos from the event.
